Two sisters Mountain

Two sisters is a solar powered site located in the Wells and Barkerville area, east of Quesnel. This is another joint project with Prince George and Quesnel people working together. It is one of those places where getting there is half the fun. The road (trail) is grown in to where the branches touch at head hight and the washouts could swallow a small car. It's fun on quads though. If you think I'm exagerating, ask Warren about his cracked rib.

Our building is an old British Columbia Forest Service look-out.
Quesnel & Prince George Hams cleaned it up and installed new windows.
The door is left unlocked and there is a guest book for visitors to sign.
A poster on the wall tells guests about the site.
There has never been any vandalism since we've had the site.

That funny looking green pointie thing is a comm-shell. It's a fibreglass
communication equipment shelter made for mountain top installations.
The heavy stuff like batteries, radios, etc are in the bottom and the antennas
are in the top. Solar panels attached to the side provide power for the equipment.

Sometimes it's sunny and the riding is great. But sometimes the mountain has her head in the clouds.
Yes, it's high but there is more than one way to "get up in the world".

Some of the local residents (Marmots).

According to a wild life biologist, this ground squirrel doesn't live here. No one told this cute little guy!.

We had some technical problems. This is Andy working the night-shift on a picnic table in the camp ground.

The repeater is in a cabinet in the corner of the building.

We reserved a group camp site and made this a long-weekend family camping trip.
Some played tourist in Barkerville, an old gold-mineing town from the 1800's. This bunch went to the mountain top.
